Export Reminders for the Start of 2017

As the New Year begins, there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure you are in compliance with changing export regulations.  Revisions to USML Categories VIII, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, XVIII, and XIX (as well as associated CCL ECCNs) that have been finalized and published between July and November of 2016  will go into effect December 31, 2016.  Exporters should make sure they know the current classification/jurisdiction of their items.

To support the changes in USML categories, a new batch of forms will be required for new license applications starting on January 3rd. Any outstanding DSP-5 that has been drafted, but not yet submitted, should be done so before this date in order to avoid rejection. Version 9.3 of the DSP-5, DSP-61 and DSP-73 will be required after this date.

Additionally, exporters with DAs and/or MLAs are reminded that Annual Report of Sales are due to the State Department by January 31, 2017.
