Visitor Log

While the method of how a company captures the information can vary, it is important that all companies with controlled products and technical data require all facility visitors to sign in  upon arrival and that a record of this sign in log is kept. Companies should evaluate visitors’ restrictions based on their citizenship (as well as the nationality of the company where they are employed) and foreign persons should be restricted from viewing any controlled product or technical data (absent any licensing authority).

Information that should be collected from every visitor in the visitor log includes their name, citizenship, date/time of entrance and exit of the facility, company, company address and the company employee/department to be visited. Additionally, while the representatives of a foreign company could be U.S. Persons, they should be treated as a foreign persons in terms of their access to controlled items.
